Overview
Olympus: Sky Myths (“Olympus”, “the app”) is a guide to Greek myths that chooses a myth each evening from the real sky above you. It is built to work without collecting personal information: there is no account, no sign-in and no server that stores your data. Everything you do in the app stays on your device.
Information we collect
We do not collect personal information. We have no servers that receive your data, and we cannot see who uses the app or how.
Data stored on your device
To work, the app keeps the following in its local storage on your device only:
- your chosen place and saved places (name, coordinates, time zone);
- preferences: viewing hour, reading length, favourite myth families, units, sound, haptics and motion settings;
- your codex progress: myths read, Trial results and answers to revisit, constellations witnessed (with a short note of the conditions);
- the night journal: what you read, answered and witnessed on each night;
- the last weather forecast received, so the app works offline.
How we use information
The data above is used only inside the app to choose tonight’s myth, show your progress and keep your journal. We do not sell, share or analyse it.
Third-party services
The app makes requests to two public services operated by Open-Meteo. No account, identifier, advertising ID or cookie is sent with them.
- Open-Meteo Forecast (api.open-meteo.com) receives your place’s latitude and longitude rounded to two decimals (about 1 km). It is called when the Oracle, Tonight’s Sky or Witness screen opens and the saved forecast is older than 60 minutes, or when you tap refresh. It returns cloud cover, visibility, weather, wind, temperature, sunrise and sunset.
- Open-Meteo Geocoding (geocoding-api.open-meteo.com) receives the city name you type, only while you search for a place. It returns matching places with coordinates and time zone.
As with any internet request, these services can see your device’s IP address. Their own privacy terms apply to how they handle it. Star positions, darkness and the Moon’s phase are calculated on your device and involve no requests.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs, does not use cookies and does not track you across apps or websites. There are no in-app purchases or subscriptions. This website has no analytics or cookies either.
Children’s privacy
Olympus is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it does not knowingly collect information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable).
Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. In the app, open Temple → Your Data → Erase everything (a confirmation is shown first). Deleting the app also removes all of its data.
Your rights
You are in full control: you can see your data in the app, export all of it as a JSON file in Temple → Your Data, and erase it at any time. Since we hold no copy, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on our side — but you can contact us with any question.
Security
Data is stored in the app’s sandboxed storage on your device and protected by your device’s own security. Requests to Open-Meteo use encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date, and the app’s Privacy screen will be updated in the same release.
